The 2006 RMFL Season

The 2006 Grand Junction Scorpions and RMFL Season have come to an end. It has been a long hard fought season for the Scorpions who was again faced diversity, hardships, and injuries throughout the 2006 season. However with every Negative there is a positive.

The Scorpions saw growth with the play of the Offensive Line that was anchored by two strong tackles Matt Schaffer and Richard Walton, who along with the rest of the O-line made big holes for the Scorpions running attack. The running attack was lead by 2006 Offensive MVP Jeff Dottson who had an excellent year considering he won that award after being injuried in the season opener and missing 3 of the Scorpions games due to personal issues. Dottson was followed up with the ever dangerous all purpose back Scott Walston who lead the team in receptions eventhough he missed half the season in order to get married. Then there was a burage of talented backs that stepped in to make big plays. The most exciting of these would have to be Bear Martinez who is both strong and elusive. I am looking forward to what this back can do for an entire season. Look for the O-line to lead this trio of backs next year to another great season!

The 2006 Scorpions Defense was one of chemistry building and speed. Entering into a new season there was only a handful of guys that had ever played defense together, so trust was an early issue for everyone. However when things were clicking they made some noise, making big hits and plays all over the field. They were lead by Defensive Captians LB Eric Easterbrook, and LB Nick Martinez for much of the season, and in the secondary by SS Scott Walston, CB Cody Topai, and CB/FS Jt Armendariz. 2007 had better be ready for a break-out from CB Termain Watson who will show-off both his cover skills and hard hitting tenacity from the corner. Look for a lot more pressure with the return of DE Ed Johnson, and DT Curtis Hintz from injury. With that pressure look for big plays out of the secondary from Topai, Walston, Watson, and Armendariz!
